Config
Controller
- Download and install the Arduino IDE application (free) on your computer. This application will allow you to upload the "MyDoorOpener" controller application into your door controller.
- Download and extract the "MyDoorOpener" controller application (free), available from the Downloads section. In the "MyDoorOpener.pde" file, modify the IP address and password for the controller to be using on your network.
- Upload the "MyDoorOpener" controller application into your controller using the Arduino IDE application and your Arduino controller connected to your computer's USB port. Quit the Arduino application and unplug the controller from your computer.
- Connect your Arduino controller to your home network router.
Home Router
- Configure your home router/firewall to have a specific port forwarding to the "MyDoorOpener" controller's IP address.
- If your ISP doesn't provide you with a static IP address, you may want to look into some dynamic DNS services. This will allow you to configure the "MyDoorOpener" iPhone application to use a fixed name rather than the IP address of your home router (which might change over time).
iPhone
- Download and install the "MyDoorOpener" iPhone application from the Apple App Store.
- Launch the application on your iPhone, go to the "Settings" tab and adjust the parameters to match your controller configuration. Switch back to the "Operate" tab within the iPhone application and use it. You now have an iPhone operated garage door opener.
